CM's Statement

I am at a stage in my artistic development where I feel it is important to challenge myself to experiment with different ways of creating. I play with different mediums to produce a variety of elements that complement each other throughout a space. In doing so, I feel I am working towards a greater unified body.

Here’s a new drawing. I like working on these small pieces. The detail demands a lot of attention and it makes my mind sink into the work. I constantly remember my junior high art teacher, Mr. Randolph, who always told me, “Draw what you see, not what you think you see.”...

I like to study how the objects we value somehow become us. The things we try to acquire and choose to keep say something about each one of us. www.AdanBanuelos.com

I bought this sneaker for the opening of my Dreams of the Ego exhibit in 2008. A lot of time has passed since then. I have noticed how much my artwork is still influenced by streetwear and sneakers. My work has changed dramatically from what I started out with, but I’m still...

I’m working on more pencil drawings again. I love how ideas and images can be transferred from my mind, through my hand, onto a piece of Bristol paper or a sketchbook. I have memories of getting lost in drawing as far back as the age of 8! It still thrills me. I have a small...

Sketching is not only the reason I fell in love with art and design, it’s also the way most big projects start out. Drawing can be the beginning of a long journey to a completed, finished work. This series of shoe drawings captivates my enthusiasm for sneaker in simple, smal...

This piece is an imaginative idea that when I'm gone, the work that I've done will stay behind. I have the tattoo of my family name on my right hand, a symbol of pride. When people see me drawing or painting, they see my name and I feel that in a way, I earn a form of respect ...

These are wooden butterfly knives I made. Theye were build by layering panels that I drew and cut on a cnc machine. The knife folds up like the real thing. Each knife stands 4 feet when opened.
